Profile

  • Name: The name of the Time Profile follows a free-form naming convention and is limited to 100 characters. Generally, there is no best practice for the naming convention. However, the name should be meaningful enough to identify the Fiscal Year, and it is worth considering whether the organization's name should be included in the new Time Profile. Additionally, consider whether a single Time Profile will be used across multiple Cubes. This might necessitate a more generic naming convention that suits the needs of multiple Cubes.

  • Description: Include a short description for the Time Profile. The Description is free form and is limited to 200 characters.

  • Fiscal Year Start Date: The start date of this Time Profile’s Fiscal Year.

  • Fiscal Year is First Period’s Calendar Year: This property defines whether the Fiscal Year is based on the first period of the Calendar Year. The default setting for this property is False.

  • Fiscal Year Month Type: This property defines how to align the month type with the Fiscal Year. The options are Calendar Month, Calendar Quarter, Fixed Weeks 4-4-5, Fixed Weeks 4-5-4, Fixed Weeks 5-4-4, and Custom Start Dates.

    • Calendar Month: Follows the standard 12-month Gregorian calendar.

    • Calendar Quarter: Used in cases where data collection and reporting are performed on the quarters. As with Calendar Month, Calendar Quarter follows the standard 12-month Gregorian Calendar.

    • Fixed Weeks 4-4-5: A weekly calendar determined by four weeks in first month, four weeks in second month, and five weeks in third month within a Quarter.

    • Fixed Weeks 4-5-4: A weekly calendar determined by four weeks in first month, five weeks in second month, and four weeks in third month within a Quarter.

    • Fixed Weeks 5-4-4: A weekly calendar determined by five weeks in first month, four weeks in second month, and four weeks in third month within a Quarter.

NOTE: For Fixed Weeks, each month is either 28 or 35 days except for the twelfth month which will have an extra one or two days.

  • Custom Start Dates: This option allows for customization of the start date for each month. When this option is selected, the Start Date field is activated for each month in the Time Periods tab.

  • Vary Settings by Year: This option allows time descriptions to be varied by year. When this option is set to True, each year is added to the Time Periods tab with Time Dimension members listed as children.

    Each Time Dimension member under a year can have a unique description defined. By default, the Time Members that exist under the Year Parent will be blank and ready to be configured if necessary. Otherwise, the Time Members will assume the configuration settings set at the Half Year, Quarter, Month, Week levels under the (Default Year) Parent.
