Dynamic Dimensions and Smart Integration Connector

In some instances, dynamic dimensions and dynamic cubes access data sources that are public facing. In other instances, data sources are in a virtual private network (VPN) and require the use of Smart Integration Connector (SIC) to access. Refer to the following image.

SIC setup is required to access non-public data sources.

  1. A local gateway server should be installed and configured. There can be multiple servers including, development, production, disaster recovery, high availability, and multiple geographic locations depending on requirements.

  2. The local gateway server should be added to OneStream.

Local data sources must be green, indicating it is accessible.

  3. Local data sources must be configured on the local gateway server.

  4. Local data sources must be added in the system configuration as Gateway Provider Types.

  5. Data sources can be referenced in the workspace assembly.

The code example above allows the OneStream cloud to communicate with the non-public data sources.

The example in the image below is a dynamic hierarchy assembly that accesses a data source with a Smart Integration Connector.

In this example, the name of the SIC gateway connection is SaybrookAWD.
